Carl Hansen CH78 Mama Bear Lounge Chair
Manufacturer: Carl Hansen
Designer: Hans j Wegner 1954
Affectionately known as the Mama Bear Chair, the CH78 Lounge Chair by Hans J. Wegner was originally introduced in 1954 as an extension of his CH71 Chair (1952) design. An antidote to the often-heavy lounge chairs of his time, Mama Bearās sculptural silhouette is defined by a series of inviting curves that offer up a warm embrace. Frame, armrests, and legs are crafted for stability from solid FSCā¢-certified wood. An optional headrest in leather or corresponding fabric completes the design. Neckpiece sold separately.
The creative and innovative mind of the legendary furniture designer Hans J. Wegner conceived the CH78 Mama Bear Chair in 1954. The iconic design is now reissued by Carl Hansen & SĆøn, as a tribute to the man often referred to as the master of the chair.
A lesson in form and function, craftsmanship and courage, the CH78 Lounge Chair, affectionately known as the Mama Bear Chair, balances soft, supportive curves with dynamic geometric shapes. Made from solid FSCā¢-certified wood and offered in a range of beautiful upholstery and with an optional headrest in leather or corresponding fabric, the result is a sculptural piece of functional design that is equally at home in a living room as it is in a hotel lobby.
Also available in Soaped Oak , Lacquered Oak and Lacquered Walnut. Please contact one of our team or more information.
